the tide that left and never came back

Charlee’s slice: 7/10/2009

Summer classes are seriously putting a damper on my social life. Now that everyone has left town, I have nothing to do but school work and watch old episodes of Dexter online. Lucky for me, the weekend comes every five days, which means I get to spend a few days back home with my buddies. This last weekend was jam packed full of stuff to do, which was perfect after the week I had. Friday night Erika, Rachel, Peter and I went to a concert on Capital Hill. Rachel’s cousin Tyler, and his girlfriend Heidi, met us for the show. It was hands down the best show I’ve seen in a long time. The band the other girls opened. There were no girls, just a couple of boys in pants that were too tight in all the wrong places. I don’t mind tight pants on boys, but this was ridiculous. Foreign Born followed them, and man, were they awesome, even in white pants. They sound checked with huakuna matata, and the music just got better from there. I just can’t say enough good things about the headlining act, the veils. At the end of the set they informed us they were seriously jet lagged, which I never would have guessed by the energy they put into it. This was my second time seeing them, and it is defiantly not going to be the last.

Saturday, Rachel drove us to west seattle for summer fest. That was quite a feat because of all the road construction on the bridges, and the various sporting event traffic. Summer fest was your typical seattle street fair, free music, art booths, overpriced fried food, and your everyday Dbag roaming the streets shirtless. The weather was nice, so it was great to be outside. Saturday night, we went to the house on Valhalla for a party. I got decently drunk on my “lemon drops,” and a lost beer pong rematch. We were winning, but the tables turned as they often do. Still it was something of an early night, Rachel drove my drunk ass home. Bryan also got a ride off Rachel, and I was mildly impressed when this guy (I’ve never really met before) gave Rach almost perfect directions on how to get to my house. It kind of left me with this creeped out feeling though, like how many people that I don’t really know, know where I live?

Sunday I took my mom (who currently has vertigo) to the store. I met Jessie for sushi and then went back to the house on Valhalla to hang out with Erika and Austin. Everyone there was wiped out since apparently the party went on until 6am. Austin drove Erika, Jessie, and I to the arboretum where we wandered around until it became apparent the rain was going to start falling on us. He then, as our pimp, bought us some Dick’s burgers. I left for Bellingham shortly after that, where I am now trying to cure my boredom with a pie blog. So, I guess until next week…

Rachel doesnt have a slice, she has dial up internet.
