Charlee’s Slice:
Yesterday was St. Patty’s day, but did I get drunk like the rest of the world? No. I stayed home and studied for my last final in my career as an undergrad. SO LAME! The final was bright and early this morning and I’m feeling a little bit like a zombie now since I somehow managed not to get to sleep until almost three in the morning, even though I stopped studying before 11. I even debated just taking a shot on my own in celebration, but to my horror, the giant bottle of Jim Beam that AJ got me for my birthday was left at Rachel and Erin’s and of course neither of them were home. So the moral of this story is, finals are lame, and so is St. Patty’s day if you have no whiskey.
This week has actually been kind of fun, I went home since my only final wasn’t until today. When I got back to Kirkland, my dad gave me a mall gift card (hell yea!) for my birthday, still needing some awesome shoes to wear to graduation I headed to Nordstrom, my long neglected friend. A sales lady actually picked out the shoes I got, and let me just say they are beautiful, my mouth is watering just thinking about them! I might even wear them tomorrow night for my lady gaga costume. Also, Erika came home, and a large cavalcade of us picked her up from the airport. All feels right in the world now that she is home again. And, I can stop worrying that I will probably kill her fish.
Tomorrow night we are having a massive birthday party for Barbara, Peter, other Rachel, and me, since we were all born in March. Fifty people RSVPed so it is sure to be a good time. We are also celebrating all the holidays that Erika missed. Hence, the afore mentioned lady gaga costume. I’m not sure what the costume will consist of, but I’m hoping I don’t just look like a cracked-out whore. Plus, I don’t have a blond wig, so that could be an issue.
The rest of the weekend will consist of me walking at graduation for my family to see. I’m hoping to survive having my whole family infiltrate my town, and there is a good chance I will be hung over so I’m sure to get bitchy by lunch time. Sunday, Erin and I are fleeing the state and driving down to California to freeload off Keri for a week.
Other than that, my life is one shiny clean slate. I have nothing going on. No jobs lined up. NOTHING! So, you are sure to hear from me a little more often. So with that, I’m going to cut this short, and take a nap, which I’m sure to do a LOT of in the coming weeks.
Charlee did not have pie today, and missed pi day on the 14th and is very sad about it.

Rachel’s Slice:
Kids, I’m reaching that turning point in a writer’s life: First Publication. It’s not for sure yet, but I’m knocking on wood and crossing my fingers. It would be a lovely little tidbit to add to my resume. More than that though, I get butterflies thinking of reading my story on the glossy pages of a literary journal. Sheer ecstasy.
Finals week was, meh on the busy side. I murdered my 1960s Lit Final since I’m the fucking Bode Miller of essay tests. More than anything though this past quarter, I’ve been incredibly restless. I feel like for the first time I’m really getting somewhere with undergraduate course work. Then, I look in the mirror and see the same girl who less than a year and a half ago was failing Organic Chemistry. So, I had an identity crisis. First, I tired to just lighten my hair to a nice golden brown shade. That wasn’t enough. So I went Botticeli’s Venus strawberry blonde for a few weeks. Turns out though, I missed my black hair. So I went back to the old standard and happy-ish for the time being. I’m telling you all this in order to preface my decision to get my eyebrow pierced if I 4.0 this last quarter(the likelihood is incredibly high).
It’s spring break and so far I haven’t got much planned. Going to teach myself some harmonica. Take a day trip to the ocean. Do a little painting. Work on my self-control by not falling back on bad habits. The usual fare. I’m wishing for some beautiful weather mostly.
I am extremely excited for tomorrow! Not only am I going to do a little day drinking with my lover-girl Ellen, but the most excellent party is going down! Speaking of Ellen, she shared with me an excellent little story about Cute-neighbor aka Last Dude I Kissed. Apparently, Mr. Neighbor has himself a new project: Taking the V-card of a 21-year old. His exchange with Ellen-darling:
Unfairly Cute-Neighbor: I’ve got a new project I’m working on—I’m trying to bang this 21-year old virgin.
Ellen: …Oh?
Just Became a D-bag Neighbor: Yeah, I don’t get it though; I mean she’s really hot, how can she be a Virgin?
Ellen: Maybe she hasn’t met the right guy yet.
Neighbor-D: I’m pretty sure I’m that guy.
This just kind of proves that I’ve got re-evaluate my standards. So I watched this video of my new favorite band Dawes doing a cover of Joe Cocker’s version of “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Taylor Goldsmith is a god with amazing scruff. And he looks way sexier(a little short though) in person. He just set my new standard. Guaranteeing I’ll be celibate for a verrrrrryyyyyyyy long time.
Not much else to report. Just getting ready to submit an essay to JP Magazine, learning the 12-bar blues, and figuring out what I’m wearing tomorrow. Enjoy the end of March!
XOXO, Rachel
