Charlee's Slice:
I think it is becoming impossible for me to do anything without procrastinating first. Here I am pie blogging, when there is a research paper to write and chem homework to finish. Oh well, thank goodness I have a long weekend to finish everything.
Since the last post I’ve been to Sasquatch!, been hiking 3 times, won some money at the horse races, got yelled at by a professor, ate some alligator, and rediscovered my love for honey sticks and mojitos!
I went to the Sasquatch! Music festival over Memorial Day weekend. I Spent 5 days camping, no shower, no running water. But I managed to have a blast. I saw 37 bands total, all of which were amazing. I’m starting to think that bumbershoot is going to pale in comparison based on their proposed lineup. Jessie and I camped next to some really great folks from Bellingham. I think J developed a bit of a crush on one of them, so I hope she can work it out. She is always welcome to stay in Bellingham with me if she ever wants to meet up with him, that is unless she ends up staying at his place… I was kind of partial to his brother, but I’m not sure he caught on. Also, Jessie and I played against them in beer pong. Jessie had never played before and the last time I played was last summer in California where I lost 2 games in a row by not sinking a single cup. Jessie and I dominated. The guys were convinced we were hustling them. I pointed out there was no money on the table, so they were lucky we weren’t. We were challenged as winners to a game against some random girls who saw us playing from a few camp sites over. They were already pretty wasted, but J and I reluctantly agreed. Just making small talk we asked where they were from and they told us Aberdeen and Port Angeles. So, as a joke, I asked,”Oh yea, how’s Kurt and Edward.” And was quickly met with a response, “Shut the fuck up, you bitch!” apparently it’s a sore subject. The girl that called me a bitch didn’t stick around long and mid-game wandered off to find a bathroom, never to return. Her friend stayed to finish the game, and roped in a really drunk Canadian girl to be her new partner. The Canadian girl entertained us by being entirely too drunk and not at all self-aware. She made statements to herself all night such as “I’m Canadian, I’m stupid.” And “I smell Caesar salad.” When clearly, no one was eating any, and then, referring to her beer holder as her coochie. Yikes. I love Canadians though, this one just happened to be insane. J and I ended up losing the second game, we had only one cup left to get, they still needed three, but then J caught the ball, and we lost on a technicality. She didn’t know it’s against the rules, so I won’t hold it against her. And that is pretty much how the rest of the camping trip went. Get up, eat, spend the day listening to music, come back, eat some more, maybe get a little drunk, try to sleep, repeat.
I got back to town after the long weekend, late Tuesday night. The weather has been beautiful. Keri came to visit on Thursday, we took her hiking at Whatcom falls. Then Friday we took her to sonic and then went off trail at Clayton beach to have an illegal bonfire. Saturday I went hiking again at Whatcom falls with Anthony, Peter, Mike, and Sammy. We found our way further down the trail and spent some time at the third water fall. Late Saturday night I drove back to Kirkland, for my Grandma’s birthday. Sunday we took my grandma to Emerald Downs, I think she had fun, but she didn’t like waiting in between the races. I won $11.00 on a $2.00 bet. So, I bought a margarita with my winnings and it had a surprising large amount on tequila in it. Also, there was a guy at the table next to us that stopped breathing, and the onsite medics took their sweet time getting to him. It didn’t take much to get him breathing again, so it was something of a relief not to watch a paraplegic die right in front of me.
Also, I found an apartment and put in an application, I’m just waiting for it to get approved. It’s across the street from Erin and Rachel’s new place, so I’m crossing my fingers. I looked at 6 mediocre apartments before finding this one, so I hope it all pans out because I don’t want to continue the search.
It is so hot in my apartment right now, I have the windows open, and I can hear a girl puking outside my place. Awesome. It just might be time to call it a night. Joe will be in town this weekend, so I’m sure early next week there will be another post. Until then, I’m going to continue to avoid my homework, and try to have some fun instead.

I should just learn not to speak too soon. So guess who I’m talking to again? Why none other than the Broman. In my defense, he offered to take me out for drinks. As in, I was getting the chance to get drunk on someone else’s tab. And drunk I got! And when the Broman kept telling me that I looked really nice and that my summer glow looked really good, I started warming up to the idea of him again a bit more. And when he pulled me into his lap and we started making out, I decided I really had missed him. Damn. I’m weak willed. Charlee and Erin just both informed me that they don’t want me to tell them I’m not speaking to the Broman anymore, they’re tired of me talking about how I’m not talking to him. The Broman is convinced they hate him, I think he just needs to come out and prove what a good time can be had with him. So my new goal is to only bring up anything nice that the Broman says. Like when he said, “You know, I kind of missed you a little bit.” Which is Broman speech for, “I missed you a lot and am really glad we’re talking again.”
The countdown to the Epic Date is down to Three Days. The Physicist is being all brainy over at some seminar at UW—the Physicist is in the same state as me!!!! I get a little light headed just thinking about it. We both agreed that we’re going to go a tiny bit dressy. Mostly because I bought a super adorable little summer dress that I want to rock out on the town. Plus, the Physicist always looks so dashing in a button up. I’m going to have to resist the urge to help him out of it until we’re safely behind closed doors. I promise that the next blog will be full of first hand Physicist experiences. I can hardly wait!
Other than my usual boy drama, just enjoying life. It’s been super hot these last few days. Which is beautiful, but at the same time horrible at night. I’ve decided that it’s not quite a fair trade off to have a Jeep when I spend my nights sweating in my bed waiting for my Melatonin to kick in. I’m going to invest in a fucking fan one of these days. Also, yours truly was nominated to do a live reading in her Fiction class! Big honor, since I was the only girl that was nominated. I’m debating writing a spin-off of my current story featuring the character I based on the Broman, or if I want to go a different route completely. It’ll have to wait though, since I’m going swimming with Peter tomorrow! I cannot wait to jump into that cold water by the falls, it will be beautiful beyond description.
So this is it—after this the Pie Girls are on summer hiatus. Charlee’s taking summer school, and I’m working, but it is the official end to our school year. I’m going to miss our happy little barhopping life full of cheeseburgers and scruffy boys. I just hope this summer will be a tad more exciting than last—even if it’s just because I get to see the Broman more often or something. Well, enjoy the weather kids and take care!
XOXO, Rachel
P.S. The Broman was rocking some scruff when I saw him. I resisted the urge to rub it all night long. Damn have I missed his mugg.
